Residential Services
Advanced Pipe inspection services residential properties with sewer & drain problems. API offers services that fix drainage problems permanently. The most common problem is directly related to root growth infiltration into a sewer line. Frequent sewer lateral problems are temporary resolved by using an electric snake or high pressure water jetting unit to cut root infiltration to restore drainage flow. Roots will grow back, repetitive sewer cleaning is the subterranean version of trimming shrubbery - re-growth needs to be cut on an annual or semi-annual basis, Root growth normally occurs at pipe joints, with clay tile pipe (most common pipe used in homes built prior to 1990) joints can be found every 3 to 4 feet so the typical residence (or commercial building) lateral has numerous multiple infiltration points for roots to penetrate.
Most property owners are not aware of their responsibilities related to sewer laterals. Property owners are responsible for maintenance and replacement of their sewer lateral from their building to the connection at the municipal sewer main. If the municipal sewer main is located in the middle of the street, homeowners must pay the costs for replacement including the replacement costs of street pavement, sidewalks and curbs.
Using cure-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology, Advanced Pipe Inspection can rehabilitate a sewer lateral with little or no excavation. The new CIPP liner is one piece, seamless eliminating any possibility of root infiltration. CIPP liners are installed in less than 10 hours with minimal inconvenience to the property owner.
Installation of a CIPP liner is beneficial to the homeowner in two ways. First, the impervious new liner prevents root growth that causes blockages and related clean-up costs. Second, the new CIPP liner is a structural repair that will eliminate the need for a costly installation of a sewer lateral.
When installing a lateral liner, the sewer lateral is first meticulously cleaned to remove all root masses, soap & grease buildup and mineral scale. High pressure water is used to both clean the lateral & flush debris downstream. A CCTV inspection camera is used to confirm the cleanliness of the pipe. An exact measurement is taken for the preparation of the CIPP liner. A section of liner is cut, then a measured amounts of resin & chemical catalysts are mixed together.
The liner is then evenly saturated with the resin mixture using pinch rollers and a vacuum system. The CIPP liners is then loader into a shooter, then inverted into the sewer line using pressurized air. Then, a disposable bladder is inverted through the CIPP to inflate the liner against the lateral pipe wall. Once inflated, the liner & bladder is held under pressure until the resin cures or hardens.
After the CIPP liner hardens, the inflation bladder is removed. A final CCTV inspection is performed to document the results, with a video copy submitted to the property owner.
